Doing some machining
This is my (Jeff) new Research 3 robot. It is a rebuild of my Research 2 robot. |
This is Brynn's new mill. This is the one that he and I moved into his basement a few RSOH episodes ago. |
This is the old design. The new one will be about 2 inches larger in diameter. |
The wheel is driven from a Pittman gear motor through a belt. |
We started by trying to square off the end of a 1/2 inch steel rod. |
After many failed attempts it occured to us to tighten all the lockdown nuts. :-) |
Whoops! Brynn did something just a little TOO stupid. :-) |
Now we have to cut a flat on the shaft. |
