The pick-and-place robot

rsoh01.jpg
The motor controller box that
Alan pulled out of the
trash.
rsoh02.jpg
It has a board like this. It
has 4 - LM628 chips.
rsoh03.jpg
Here the controller is wired
to a power amp and a Pittman
motor.
rsoh04.jpg
After hours of playing it
finally talks to the computer.

Scooter experiments

rsoh05.jpg
We hooked up Alan's
batteries to a test load.
rsoh06.jpg
Jeff's 50 amp shunt to
measure current.
rsoh07.jpg
Jeff's load resistors. 3 -
0.3 ohm resistors gives us
about 1 ohm.
rsoh08.jpg
Voltage on the two batteries
before we started.
rsoh09.jpg
Voltage and current while it
is running. You can see it is
about 23 amps.
rsoh10.jpg
An old battery wouldn't take
a charge. So we plan to put
some water in it.

A closer view of the rubber
vent cap on each cell.
