Kilian's Robot Shop of Horrors - 08/30/2001

Vacation is over and we got back to work. Everyone had something to work on this time.
Brynn brought a car project. Ron brought his new model airplane gas engine to play with.
Jeff had some motors and propellers to assemble.
And Alan had some brain wave data that he collected.
Brynn's wild hair
Brynn brought his BMW intake
mainfold to grind out the
ports.
|
And he wants to install this
NOS kit. (Nitrous Oxide
injectors)
|
He is using a pnuematic die
grinder to open the ports.
|
Alan is inspectimg the
handy-work.
|
Ron's airplane engine
Ron bought this new Cox .049
airplane engine.
|
It looks like this.
|
Alan and Ron are running it.
(Just to annoy the neighbors.)
|
Jeff's submarine propellers
Jeff is pressing a fan blade
on a motor shaft. It required
two aluminum tubes from a
hardware store as shims.
|
The motor under water in the
sink.
|
The motor/propeller with
power applied. A DC motor
will run under water. But
probably not for long if run
in salt water.
|
Test motor on the left. A
trolling motor prop on a DC
motor on the right. These
parts all came from Axman,
except the aluminum tube
spacers.
|
Alan's brain waves
These are the brain waves
that Alan collected at the
University of Minnesota. We
played with them using Matlab.
|
This is the spectrum of two
of the waveforms. The big
bumps aren't supposed to be
there.
|
Misc
Brynn is looking at a
spinning mirror that Alan
made for one of his
rangefinder experiments.
|
Brynn got a REAL close look
at it.
|
Alan didn't want to be
outdone by Bruce Shapiro's
artwork robots. So he pulled
out this robot spray painter
to work on.
